Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has praised Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, calling him a disciplined leader and a tactical mastermind.
Zito shared these thoughts ahead of Ghana’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, despite the team's struggles in the ongoing qualifiers.
The veteran Ghanaian coach expressed admiration for Addo, who previously worked as a talent coach at Borussia Dortmund.
"This coach you see, nobody can divert his course, you see him, I like him for one, he’s very disciplined and then very tactical," he told Citi Sports. "What he wants to do is what he did.
"So to me, I’m very happy, they only have, if he gives them the opportunity, they only have to play well so that they give another opportunity to the rest of Africans."
Zito also emphasized the challenges local players face compared to their European counterparts.
"Because seriously when you are in Europe looking at what Europeans are doing and then you come to Africa, it will be very difficult for you to come in for a local player.
"It’s a fact because we have to do extra, the local players have to do extra before they come," he added.
The Black Stars opened their camp on Monday in Accra, with eight players participating in the first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium. They will continue preparations today before departing for Luanda on Wednesday.
Ghana, aiming to defy the odds and qualify for the 2025 tournament in Morocco, faces Angola on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, followed by a home clash with Niger on November 18.
Currently in third place in Group F with only two points from four matches, the Black Stars are determined to secure their qualification despite a challenging start to the qualifiers.
