Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams is set to miss Ghana's final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against Angola and Niger due to a hamstring injury.
The Spanish club announced that the 30-year-old forward sustained the injury ahead of their La Liga match against Real Valladolid on Sunday at the José Zorrilla Stadium.
Despite efforts to recover in time, Williams has been ruled out of the game.
“The forward will be unavailable for Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Valladolid,” the club said in a statement.
“Athletic Club forward Iñaki Williams will miss Sunday's LaLiga clash with Real Valladolid after straining his left hamstring muscles."
Meanwhile, Williams is expected to undergo a scan on Monday to know the extent of the hamstring injury.
Williams, who has scored five goals this season, had been named in Ghana's 25-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers.
The Black Stars are set to begin training camp in Accra on Sunday and will hold several training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to face Angola's Palancas Negras on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.
They will then conclude their qualifiers against Niger on November 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana currently sits third in Group F with two points from four games, trailing Angola and Sudan, as they strive to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
