As part of the Ghana@50 celebrations, Taumafai Promotions is to stage an international kickboxing night between Ghana and Togo at the Prisons Canteen in Accra on Saturday, May 12.

Among boxers to represent Ghana are Joe Mingle (De Lion), Tong Po, Punisher, Vandam, Simbad, Executioner and Black Beans.
The programme which was put together by Bukuro Gym and Remix Model of Japan, is being sponsored by ITED, Latex Foam, Ghana TV3, Metro TV and Radio Gold.

There will be an undercard involving women kickboxers with side attraction music by A.S. 4.
Joe "De Lion” Mingle told the Statesports in an exclusive interview yesterday that the sport had developed much interest among sporting fans and he was hopeful that a big crowd would be around to watch them defend the flag of Ghana against Togo.

He, therefore, appealed to companies to come on board to sponsor the sport.
“Although kickboxing is a new sport in Ghana, it has attracted lots of enthusiasts in Bukom, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Osu and Kaneshie”, he said, adding that Saturday's show would offer opportunities for interested Ghanaians to watch the sport.
Some of the officials behind the kickboxing sports are Yoofi Boham and Ataa Eddie Pappoe.
