MON, 04 NOV 2024

Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has urged the Black Satellites to secure victory at the upcoming 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana earned its spot in the tournament by reaching the final of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria last week.

Speaking to the team, Okraku emphasized their potential to win a fifth AFCON title under the leadership of Coach Desmond Ofei.

The Black Satellites first triumphed in the tournament in 1993 in Mauritius, followed by victories in 1999 when Ghana hosted the event, in Rwanda in 2009, and most recently in 2021 in Mauritania.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON will also act as a qualifier for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, with the top four teams gaining automatic entry to the prestigious global competition.
