2024/25 GPL Matchday 9 Wrap Up: Hearts of Oak cruise over Medeama as Heart of Lions stun Kotoko at Obuasi

The Matchday 9 fixtures of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League have ended at the various stadia with a game left to be played on Monday.

On Friday, Medeama SC suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Hearts of Oak at the TNA Park with Kwabena Boateng and Mawuli Wayo scoring the goals for the Phobians.

Accra Lions at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium were held to a 1-1 draw against defending champions, FC Samartex.

Abdul-Shakun Abubakari broke the deadlock for the home side in the 43rd minute before Benedict Afful equalized late in the 92nd minute for the Timber Giants.

The Sunday games saw Asante Kotoko losing 1-0 against Heart of Lions. Kojo Obeng Junior's lone goal in the 28th minute was enough for the Kpando side to snatch all three points.

Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex were held to a goalless scoreline against Aduana FC.

Elsewhere, Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Kronmansah Park were held to a 2-2 draw against Bechem United.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman put the home side ahead in the 13th minute after scoring from a spot kick to end the first half 1-0.

After recess, Emmanuel Abban equalized for the away side on the 51st minute. Bechem United scored again to take the lead in 57th minute before Collins Kudjo equalized for the home side in the 78th minute.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea were also held to a 2-2 draw against Basake Holy Stars.

The home side took the lead through Emmanuel Sarpong in the 45th minute to end the first half 1-0. However, Stephen Awuah Baffour equalized for the debutant side in the 52nd minute. In the 80th minute, Holy Stars took the lead before Stephen Amankonah equalized for the home side.

Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium suffered a 1-0 defeat against Nations FC. Faisal Charwetey scored the only goal as the Abrankese-based side secured the all-important win.

Bibiani GoldStars at the DUN's Park were held to a goalless scoreline against Dreams FC.

On Monday, Legon Cities will host Young Apostles at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium with kick-off scheduled at 15:00 GMT.

Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC occupy the top four while Accra Lions, Dreams FC and Legon Cities sit in the relegation zone.
