Ghanaian football legend Rev Osei Kofi has criticized the senior national team, the Black Stars, calling them "lifeless" amid their recent struggles.
The team, under coach Otto Addo, has faced significant challenges in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Currently, after four matches, the four-time African champions find themselves in third place in Group F with only two points, putting their chances of qualifying for the tournament in jeopardy.
In light of these disappointing results, Osei Kofi, an AFCON winner himself, expressed his concerns about the team's performance.
He emphasized the need for those responsible for football in Ghana to focus on developing the national teams and the Ghana Premier League rather than prioritizing business interests.
"The Black Stars seem lifeless to me," he told Graphic Sports.
"Just as only those who have attended law school can practice law, a similar principle should apply to football administration. Ironically, those currently in charge of our football lack a deep understanding of the game; they prioritize business over the GPL and other developmental projects,” he added.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars will prepare for their crucial matches against Angola in Luanda and then face Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
For Ghana to secure a spot in the tournament, they will need to win both matches while hoping that Sudan, currently in second place with 7 points, loses to both Niger and Angola.
