Panix Gym's Joshua Barnor was adjudged the best boxer of the night after putting up a brilliant performance to overpower Godwin Aryee in a featherweight bout on week eight of the Greater Accra Amateur league staged last Friday at the Prisons Canteen.

Barnor's combination of hooks and jabs were his biggest weapons against Aryee who had no alternative style.

Fans, however, witnessed an interesting spectacle when Will Power Gym's Lartei Lartey's Coach, popularly known as 'Lee Moore', walked into the ring to interrupt the fight with Charles Stella of the Attoh Quarshie Gym in the third round of a middleweight bout.

Indeed coach Moore's action appeared needless and strange because at the time of the interruption his boxer was not really in trouble, he was behind on points.

In other bouts, Akotoku Academy's Duke Micah stopped Adotey Pappoe of the Bronx Gym in 56 seconds into their light flyweight bout, while in the featherweight division Michael Pappoe of the Panix Gym recorded a 3-0 victory over Confidence Hamenu of the Jah Bless Gym.

In the lightweight division, Offei Dodoo (Attoh Quarshie), Emmanuel Mensah (Will Power) and Bronx Gym's Fuseini Assandor also recorded their names on the winning cards after defeating Yaya Afra Sackey (Sagacious Gym), Francis Bronx (Bronx) and Black Panthers' Kofi Quaye Wilson respectively.

And in a light welterweight contest, Jacob Kotey of the Billy Kotey Gym lasted only one round against De-Oak Gym's Odoi Yemofio after he suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Evans Dodoo of Attoh Quarshie Gym defeated David Kodjo of the Dade boxing club by a 2-1 decision in another welterweight bout while Adjetey Monney (Attoh Quarshie) defeated Sulemana Odartey Lamptey of Square Deal Gym in a welterweight contest.

Fuseini Yalo of De-Oak Gym stunned fans with his swift swerving and heavy jabbing in a middleweight bout when he overpowered Michael Sackey of Liase Gym. Emmanuel Tagoe (Black Panthers) defeated Moses Lartey (Will Power) 2-1 in another middleweight contest.

In a light heavyweight contest, intense punishment from Maxwell Amponsah in round two left Mawuli Akpalu's corner with no option but to throw in the towel.
