I admired watching Kevin-Prince and Andre Ayew - Elisah Owusu

Midfielder Elisha Owusu has named Kevin Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew as the players he admired watching while growing up.

Owusu, who was s born in Montreuil, France but has Ghanaian parentage earned his maiden call-up to the team ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers playoffs against Nigeria and was introduced in the second half.

In an interview with Flashscore, the 26-year-old revealed that even though he wasn't born in the West African country but was always looking forward to representing them at national level.

He further eulogized Kevin Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew as his childhood heroes and was very honoured to have played alongside the latter in the Black Stars.

"For me it’s a good thing to play for my country. I am very happy to go on international duty. When I was a kid I always dreamt of playing for my country. I take it like as a blessing.

"Growing up I used to watch Kevin-Prince Boateng a lot. I loved him as a kid. Andre Ayew also because when you're from France he is the ‘big big’ man. Having the chance to play with him in the national team was a big honour for me."

Elisha Owusu played a vital role in helping his current club AJ Auxurre secure promotion back into the French Ligue 1 and has made four league appearances so far.

Having featured in Ghana's opening games against Angola and Niger, Elisha Owusu is expected to return to the squad for the doubleheader against Sudan next month.
