Dr Tony Aubynn, Chairman of the Medeama Sporting Club Board, has refuted claims that their failure to retain the Ghana Premier League title was due to a technical reshuffle.
Medeama SC won the 2022/23 title but ended the 2023/24 season in eighth place, ceding the title to FC Samartex.
During that season, head coach Evans Augustine Adotey was reassigned as a technical advisor, with Nebojsa Kapor taking over as the new head coach.
In an interview with ChannelOne Sports, Dr Aubynn stated, “I don’t think that (coaching change) was the reason.
"There are many factors that affect the level of performance. The intention of the change was positive…and the board took that decision,” he added.
Looking ahead, Medeama SC has made a strong start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, winning their first two matches.
They currently lead the standings with six points and will face Basake Holy Stars on Friday, September 27, at C.A.M Park.
