Dear Editor, The national under-17 football team, the Black Starlets, led by veteran coach, Osam-Duodu, who participated in the Seventh African tournament held in Kegue, Togo need to be congratulated for qualifying for the World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that the team also placed third at the end of the tournament, qualifying for the World Cup in South Korea.
The ambition of the veteran coach to win the trophy with two different countries after last two year's feat with The Gambia could not materialise.
The team also failed to extend Ghana's recent victory over Nigeria to the junior level. The players did their best but could have done better if they had kept their cool.
In the first two games, they played well but did not have the energy to fight to the end.
Between now and the time that the World event will be held, I wish to urge the management and the technical team to beef up the squad so that they can make a great impact.
I will urge the coach and his assistants to accept whatever mistake that was committed, and endeavour to seal the loopholes before the tournament.
