CAF Champions League: It is a win for us - Raja Club coach Rusmir Cviko after 2-2 draw with FC Samartex

Raja Casablanca coach, Rusmir Cviko coach has described his side's 2-2 draw against FC Samartex as a win.

The Moroccan giants were hosted at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the second round of the preliminary round of games on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Coach Rusmir Cviko complained about the pitch, insisting that his side would take the draw as a win.

“I’m not happy. I’m happy because we didn’t lose the game but normally we have to win this game," he said.

"This field where we played it is not possible to play and because of that I say congratulations to my team. That is a big win for my team,” coach Rusmir Cviko added.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Mohammed Azrida headed in from a corner but the Timber Giants responded swiftly, equalising in the 37th minute with a spectacular acrobatic effort from Francis Gyetuah.

Just before half-time, Samartex's pressure paid off with Michael Ephson capitalised on a rebound from Isaac Afful’s long-range shot to give the home side a 2-1 lead.

After recess, Samartex continued to create chances but failed to extend their lead. However, Raja took advantage and levelled the score through a brilliant team move, finished by Mohammed Boulacsout.

Raja Casablanca will host the Ghana Premier League champions at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in the second leg on Saturday, September 21.
