Ghanaian football fans voiced their frustration by throwing bottles onto the pitch after the Black Stars experienced a 1-0 defeat to Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at Baba Yara Stadium.
The loss came courtesy of a late goal from Milson, which ended Ghana's impressive 24-year unbeaten home streak.
Following the final whistle, tensions erupted, with the crowd hurling objects onto the field and damaging the pitch panels. The already poor condition of the pitch, which fans had criticized for affecting player performance, exacerbated the situation.
Despite controlling possession, Ghana struggled to score, with notable attempts from Jordan Ayew and Mohammed Kudus being thwarted. A defensive mistake by Abdul Mumin gave Angola the opening they needed to secure the win, intensifying the frustration among local supporters.
This defeat marks Ghana’s first loss in Kumasi since 2000, presenting a challenging start to their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars will now shift their focus to their upcoming match against Niger on Monday, September 9, in Berkane, as Coach Otto Addo and his team aim to recover from this disappointing home defeat.
