The head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has refused to blame defender Abdul Mumin for Ghana’s defeat to Angola on Thursday.
Ghana lost by a lone goal to Angola today in a Group F encounter of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The goal came in extra time of the second half when an attempted clearance by Abdul Mumin fell to Milson, who scored from close range to win the game for his country.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Ghana coach Otto Addo said it was not the fault of Abdul Mumin that the Black Stars conceded.
He said a lot of factors including the bad grass on the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium worked against his team.
“The quality is there. Even though we lost I saw that the quality is there. It was an unlucky moment that he couldn’t clear the ball at the end but we made some mistakes before so it’s not only him. The grass is also not good but besides that Abdul Mumin did very well,” Coach Otto Addo said.
After the narrow defeat to Angola, the Black Stars of Ghana needs to regroup and prepare for the next game in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Niger.
That game will be played on Monday, September 9.
