The head coach of Angola’s national team, Pedro Goncalves expressed his disappointment in the condition of the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday after his side’s 1-0 win over the Black Stars of Ghana.

Ghana today locked horns with the Group F opponent of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Kumasi.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Coach Pedro Goncalves stressed that a country like Ghana deserves to have a better pitch to host its home matches.

“A country like Ghana deserves a better pitch,” the Angola national team head coach said after the game.

Besides his concern with the bad condition of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, coach Pedro Goncalves was full of praise for his players.

He said the win is just what his side needs as they continue to grow as a national team.

“We are improving a lot. It’s true. The last AFCON and the last COSAFA. Everybody feels that we are growing but we are searching for this kind of win. The challenge for sure is that tomorrow we return to the ground to work,” Coach Pedro Goncalves said.

In Round 2 of the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Ghana will take on Niger while Angola faces off with Sudan.
