Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo has announced that the upcoming Top Four competition will be hosted at the TnA Stadium.
The tournament is set to begin following the match between Medeama and Asante Kotoko, which will serve as the stadium's inaugural event.
However, FA Cup winners Nsoatreman and Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex will not participate due to their commitments in African competitions.
This year's competitors include Bechem, Berekum Chelsea, Nations FC, and Medeama.
In an interview with Peace FM, Fianoo expressed appreciation to Gold Fields for their support of Ghanaian football. He emphasized the importance of the new stadium to the nation and encouraged other companies to invest in football infrastructure.
"We intended to host the competition at the stadium for its opening or to test the facilities, but there were some challenges regarding management. We must thank Gold Fields for their contribution to Ghanaian football. This wasn't just for Tarkwa; it was for the entire country, as our teams will play league and FA Cup matches there," Fianoo stated.
He added, "Ghanaian clubs will greatly benefit from this facility, and we are grateful for their efforts. We encourage other companies to follow their lead, as there is a significant shortage of football infrastructure."
Fianoo also explained that there was initial uncertainty over who would manage the stadium, with the Tarkwa Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority both considered.
