Ghana international Forson Amankwah played a key role for Norwich City on Tuesday night as they secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Stevenage in the EFL Cup First Round.
The promising youngster was in the starting lineup for his new club, contributing solidly for 66 minutes before being substituted.
The match, held at Carrow Road, saw Norwich take the lead in the 26th minute with a well-placed shot from Abu Kamara. However, Stevenage quickly responded, levelling the score just two minutes later through a Charlie Goode goal.
Norwich regained their advantage shortly after, with Onel Hernandez finding the back of the net to make it 2-1. But before halftime, Stevenage struck again, with Louis Appere ensuring the teams went into the break tied at 2-2.
Just three minutes into the second half, Borja Sainz delivered a stunning goal to put Norwich back in front at 3-2. On the hour mark, Amankwah made his mark, setting up Hernandez for his second goal of the night, extending Norwich's lead to 4-2.
Despite a late own goal from Brad Hills that brought Stevenage within one, Norwich held on to their advantage and emerged victorious.
With this win, Amankwah and his Norwich City teammates advance to the second round of the EFL Cup.
