Brandon Thomas-Asante believes that his collaboration with Coventry City assistant manager George Boateng will significantly advance his career.
The Ghana striker has transferred to the Sky Blues from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee.
Thomas-Asante has reconnected with Boateng, a former assistant coach for the Black Stars.
“George Boateng was familiar with my play from his scouting work for Ghana while at West Bromwich Albion, so I knew he had an appreciation for my game. Seeing him now as a coach here was exciting for me, given his impressive background both as a player and a coach,” said the 25-year-old after his Coventry City debut, which ended in a 2-1 defeat to Werder Bremen in a preseason match.
He added, “Working with both the manager and George is something I believe will help me reach the next level in my career.”
Last season, Thomas-Asante netted 12 goals and provided two assists in 43 appearances. He was briefly linked with Hull City before choosing Coventry City.
Following his debut for Ghana against the Central African Republic in June, Thomas-Asante aims to be included in the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger in September.
