I hope to score my debut goal against Stoke City - Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante

Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante says he hopes to score his debut goal for Coventry City against Stoke City.

The 25-year-old made his debut appearance for the Sky Blues in their 2-1 defeat against German side Werder Bremen in the club’s final preseason game.

As they prepare for their 2024/25 English Championship opener against Stoke this weekend at the Bet365 Stadium, Thomas-Asante says he is hoping to hit the ground running by scoring his debut goal for the club after failing to score against Bremen.

“I am over the moon to get to work. I was expecting to get my debut goal but we will save that for my league debut at Stoke," he told the club website.

"I am super excited and I cannot wait to give the fans something to be excited about," he added.

Thomas-Asante joined Coventry City this summer on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee from West Bromwich Albion.

With West Brom last season, he scored 12 goals and added two assists in 43 games in all competitions.

Thomas-Asante, however, made his Black Stars debut in Ghana’s 4-3 win over Central African Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in June.
