FC Samartex coach, Nurudeen Amadu is cautiously optimistic as he prepares to integrate new players into his squad for the 2024/25 CAF Champions League campaign.
The team is grappling with the departure of key figures from last season's surprising Ghana Premier League title-winning squad, including top scorer Evans Osei Wusu, who is currently injured, and captain Emmanuel Keyekeh, recently honored as the Best Player in the Ghana League at the Ghana Football Awards.
In response, Samartex has recruited several new players, including Lord Adabo and Baba Kushibo from RTU. Despite these additions, Amadu is concerned about how quickly the new signings will adapt to the team.
“We've lost some very important players. Evans Owusu is injured, Daudu Seidu Yussif has moved to the APL, and Keyekeh was crucial to our success,” Amadu told Joy Sports.
“While we’ve brought in new talent, the challenge now is to see how well they integrate into the team. Adapting to a new environment, new tactics, and new teammates is always a test.”
FC Samartex will face Victoria Unite in the first preliminary round of the Champions League, with the first leg taking place in Cameroon between August 16 and 25, 2024, followed by the second leg at home.
