Black Stars coach Otto Addo praised his team's impressive comeback victory against the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Ghana faced the Wild Beasts at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday for the matchday four fixture.
The game saw Ghana initially take the lead through Jordan Ayew’s penalty kick. However, Central African Republic's Louis Mafouta responded with two goals, ending the first half 2-1 in their favour.
In the second half, Otto Addo’s squad staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 4-3 win. Jordan Ayew scored two more goals, completing his hat trick, while Abdul Fatawu Issahaku also scored.
After the match, Addo commended his team’s mental toughness and positive attitude as key factors in their comeback.
"The positive spirit. Despite being behind, away in Mali and now here again, to come back from difficult situations needs to be mentioned. The mentality of the players to believe how I told them to play and to deliver. They are coming from all over Europe - with different coaching principles - but they were able to adapt and perform," he said.
Addo also stressed the importance of maintaining the high standard set by their recent performances.
"This should be our standard - that second-half performance. But if we keep at it, the probability is that we can win a lot of matches and prolong this spell," he added.
With this victory, the Black Stars have now moved to the top of Group I in the CAF World Cup qualifiers, accumulating nine points, three points ahead of both Comoros and Madagascar.
