Prosper Narteh Ogum must resign from Asante Kotoko - Former NSA boss Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang

Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has called for Prosper Narteh Ogum to step down from his position as head coach of Asante Kotoko.

Ogum, formerly with WAFA, is under increasing pressure following Kotoko's failure to secure a win in their last eight matches of the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The team's struggles were compounded by a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC on Sunday, during Matchday 26 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. Their last victory dates back to a month ago against Bibuani Gold Stars.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centers Limited, urged Ogum to step down to prevent the club from facing relegation.

"I hold the view that Prosper Narteh Ogum must sacrifice himself and resign from the club," the former National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman said.

"In my lifetime of supporting Asante Kotoko, the club has never played eight games without a win.

"If care is not taken and we lose our next three games, we might end up heading to relegation.

"We as supporters will not allow that to happen and that is why the coach must do self-introspection and resign from the club."

Agyemang emphasized that while Ogum may have been appointed by Otumfuo as part of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), the current performance of the team necessitates his departure.

"Otumfuo named him as part of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) and so perhaps, the members of the IMC can't tell him that he has to leave but with the current performance of the team, Prosper Narteh Ogum must leave the club.

"We will not wait for the club to be relegated before he leaves the club," he added.

Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 11th position in the Premier League standings with 33 points.
