Wilson Arthur, Chairman of the MTN FA Cup committee, underscores the tournament's knack for spotlighting clubs with sturdy foundations.
Set for this weekend, the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup are slated for Saturday, March 30, and Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Mr Arthur asserts that the quarter-finalist clubs earned their spots through merit, not luck.
"Nania's victories over Accra Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics, followed by Legon Cities' triumph over Nania, illustrate that the quarter-finalists have earned their places through consistent performance," Arthur explains.
He emphasizes, "Weak fundamentals are exposed in the MTN FA Cup; it's all about form."
The champion of the 2023/2024 MTN FA Cup will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF inter-club competition.
Nsoatreman FC, last season's semifinalist, is set to clash with Karela United at Nana Amoah Koronmansah Park. Meanwhile, Legon Cities will take on 2015/2016 winners Bechem United at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.
Premier League outfit Bofoakwa Tano will host Division One side Skyy FC at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
However, the match between Defending Champions Dreams FC and Soccer Intellectuals has been rescheduled due to Dreams FC’s engagement in the CAF Confederation Cup Quarter Final against Stade Malien.
