Dreams FC coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has revealed his decision not to apply for the vacant Ghana coaching position, expressing concerns about potential social media criticism from those he deems as detractors.

The coaching role became available following Chris Hughton's dismissal after Ghana's unsuccessful campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite Zito's impressive spell with Dreams FC, which included winning the Ghanaian FA Cup last season and taking the side to the top of their CAF Confederation Cup group, he decided not to pursue the Black Stars position.

The coach stated that if he had sought for the role, critics would have linked his candidature to his association with Kurt Okraku, the current Ghana FA President and former Executive Chairman of Dreams FC.

Zito shared his perspective in an interview with Asempa FM, stating, "If I had applied, people would say it's because Kurt Okraku is the GFA President that's why I applied. So, I decided not to apply at all."

The Ghana FA Executive Council is now examining findings from the search committee, and a decision on the next Black Stars coach is likely within the next few days.
