The Black Queens of Ghana are set to face Zambia in a crucial Olympic Games third-round qualifier on February 28th and Freda Ayisi remains optimistic about their chances despite a recent defeat to Zambia.

Zambia secured a 1-0 win against Ghana in the first leg held in Accra, with Racheal Kundananji scoring the decisive goal.

Ayisi, who made her debut during that game, remains determined to help her team bounce back.

Speaking ahead of the game, the midfielder acknowledged the importance of the match, stating, "It will be amazing for the team to go for the Olympics because it’s a big opportunity to show the world that Ghana can play football and also put us on the map again.

"I feel that the team is good, the team is doing well, it wasn't complacency that made us lose in Accra. We are focused, sometimes football can go either way and that’s what happened in the 1st leg."

Regarding the first-leg defeat, Ayisi dismissed complacency as a factor, emphasizing the team's focus and determination. She believes that football can be unpredictable and expressed confidence in the team's abilities.

Despite being a new addition to the team, Ayisi is adapting well and has impressed during training sessions. She hopes to continue developing her skills and cement her place in the squad.

The return leg will take place at the Levy Nwanawasa Sports Stadium in Ndola, Zambia, where the Black Queens aim to overturn the deficit and secure qualification for the Olympic Games.
