Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has shared positive news regarding the return of Thomas Partey to the squad.
The midfielder, who has been sidelined since November 2023 due to a thigh injury sustained before a UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla, is nearing a return to action.
Speaking at a pre-game press conference ahead of Arsenal's Premier League clash against Newcastle, Arteta expressed optimism about Partey's recovery.
He mentioned that the Ghanaian international is "very close" to being fit to play and has been training alongside Gabriel Jesus, who is also recovering from an injury.
Despite missing significant game time, Partey has been making steady progress and is on the verge of rejoining the team.
Arteta acknowledged the importance of ensuring that Partey is fully prepared physically before reintroducing him to competitive football.
“We have another session today and obviously he’s been out for many, many months now and we need to really nail the timing and when he has enough in the tank to compete, but I think he’s very close," he said.
“It’s the same with Gabby [Jesus] as well, he’s done a few things," he added.
Partey's injury also prevented him from representing Ghana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
However, his imminent return will be a boost for both Arsenal and the national team
