Medeama's owner and main financier, Moses Armah Parker, has made it clear that there's no need to delay their upcoming match against Al Ahly, despite a request by the Egyptian club to postpone the game due to flight issues.
The two teams are set to face off at the Baba Yara Stadium, with both eager to secure a victory.
Speaking to btolat.com in an interview, Parker emphasized that the venue for the clash would be occupied and thus there's no grounds for postponing the game to Saturday.
"We refuse to postpone the match until Saturday," he stated. "Al-Ahly is on its way to Kumasi at present, and has the possibility of training today at the match stadium."
He further explained, "We cannot postpone the match to Saturday because the stadium is busy on that day with another event. Therefore, there is no need to postpone the match and we cannot do that because the stadium is busy."
Medeama’s advancement prospects in the competition hang in the balance, with a victory against Al Ahly potentially bolstering their chances of securing a quarterfinal berth.
Al Ahly, on the other hand, could progress to the next stage if they defeat the Ghanaian team. Nevertheless, the Ghanaian champions are determined to challenge the top club in Africa as they strive for victory in Kumasi.
The Tarkwa-based club is heading into the crucial game with a healthy squad, with defender Nurudeen Abdulai returning to full training following some injury setbacks.
Medeama is currently at the bottom of Group D with 4 points, and a stellar performance will be required to advance to the next stage of the competition.
The CAF Champions League resumes this weekend after a hiatus due to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, with the penultimate group stage matches set to take place.
