Cote d’Ivoire is on the cusp of potentially clinching their third continental title as they gear up to face Nigeria in the finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe.
The Elephants, under the leadership of Emerse Faé, have staged an impressive comeback in what is being hailed as one of the most remarkable turnarounds in TotalEnergies CAF AFCON history.
Now, they find themselves just ninety minutes away from repeating their triumphs of 1992 and 2015.
Addressing the media a day before the final, coach Faé expressed the team's desire to retain the trophy on home soil and adorn the orange jersey of Cote d’Ivoire with a third star.
"Tomorrow presents us with a fantastic opportunity to keep the trophy at home. We understand the challenges of winning a tournament you're hosting. Making it to the final is an achievement, but tomorrow, we have the chance to go a step further and secure victory, while also adding a third star to the orange jersey of Côte d’Ivoire," remarked the coach.
Should the Elephants emerge victorious against Nigeria, they will match their opponent's record of three TotalEnergies CAF AFCON titles.
The highly anticipated showdown at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium is set to kick off at 20:00 GMT.
