Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, says the Black Stars will play the final of the FIFA World Cup if Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is elected as president of the country.
Dr Bawumia has been elected as the flagbearer of the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections.
Speaking at a rally in Nalerigu in the Northeast Region, Chairman Wontumi said the governing NPP will win the 2024 elections and continue the developmental projects it has started.
He said Ghana stands to gain a lot of things if the Vice President wins the 2024 general elections.
The vociferous regional chairman also said a Bawumia presidency will lift Ghana football and that the Black Stars will make the finals of the 2026 World Cup.
“When you vote for Dr Bawumia to become president in 2024, at the next World Cup in 2026, Ghana will go to the finals,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have started their 2026 World Cup qualifiers and recorded a 1-0 win against Madagascar in their Group I opener.
Ghana will be hosted by Comoros later today in their second group game at the Stade de Moroni with kick off scheduled at 16:00GMT.
