‘It's my way of focusing’ — Jordan Ayew opens up on not smiling [VIDEO]

Ghana Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has clarified reports that he rarely smiles.

He stated that it is his way of focusing and showing seriousness about matches.

In a recent interview, the 32-year-old Crystal Palace forward addressed regular complaints from his mother and aunts about his apparent lack of smiling.

"It's something I try to work on. My mum, my aunties, it's something that they complain about," Ayew is quoted as saying.

He continued: "You're doing a wonderful job. Obviously, I'm on the pitch and I can't really smile when I'm on the pitch because I'm working."

Jordan Ayew insisted that fans should not misconstrue his serious demeanor on the field as a sign of unhappiness or anger.

"It doesn't mean I'm not happy or I'm angry with someone. It's just my way of focusing on the game and when I'm focused on the game, I'm just right into the game and there's nothing else I'm thinking about," he explained.

While acknowledging the regular complaints about his composure, the Ghanaian emphasized that he is making efforts to address it but football remains his priority.
