Gbenga ‘The Braggart’ Storms Town

Nigerian braggart, super middleweight boxer Michael Gbenga, storms Accra early this week to face local boy Charles “the Crusader” Adamu in the final Commonwealth eliminator on Friday at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.

The fight, being put together by the Ghana Boxing Authority, Metro TV, Obric Sala promotions and the Ambition, as well as Commonwealth Sports Award Promotions, forms part of the Ghana @ 50 celebrations.

Dubbed the “Golden Jubilee Independence Boxing Bonanza,” the nine-bout thriller will also feature two other final Commonwealth eliminators.

The first is a welterweight bout between Joshua Okine and Philip Kotey, while George Ashie faces Yakubu Amidu in a super featherweight.

Ghana's Lartei Lartey battles Kenyan Kelvin Onyango in an African Boxing Union (ABU) Super lightweight vacant championship while Lante Addy challenges champion Ibrahim Adewale of Nigeria in the ABU bantamweight championship.

Also billed for the night is a lightweight championship final eliminator between Samuel Amoako, the champion, versus the challenger Bilal Mohammed.

Ben “Congo Soldier” Ankrah defends his national super lightweight championship title against Herbert Mensah while Joseph Agbeko fights Baba Nzor in an eight-round super bantamweight contest.

“Crowd puller” Brimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) will spice up the evening with an eight-round contest against Baameyi in the light heavyweight division.
