The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has handed a late call-up to Bechem United striker Hafiz Konkoni for the clash against Madagascar in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The forward is expected to report to camp for training on Monday, June 12, when all the invited players begin training as part of preparations for the crucial Group E contest.
“Ghana Coach Chris Hughton has called up Bechem United forward Hafiz Konkoni for next weekend’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
“Konkoni will join the squad on Monday to begin preparations for the crucial AFCON match in Antananarivo.
“His inclusion takes the number of players to 25 as Ghana aim to pick all the spoils to make another Africa Cup of Nations tournament,” parts of a release from the Ghana FA said on Sunday night.
Hafiz Konkoni has been one of the best strikers in the Ghana Premier League this season.
He finished the 2022/23 league campaign with 15 goals from 26 games.
