Former Chairman of the Western Regional Football Association, Kojo Yankah has Tuesday, June 6 confirmed his intentions to contest for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections later this year.
The mandate of the Kurt Okraku-led administration will expire in October later this year.
Elections are expected to be held in October to elect a new president for the Football Association.
“I'm officially declaring my intention to contest the GFA presidential election today. It's true, I Kojo Yankah will contest for the vacant GFA job in October 2023,” he told Onua TV.
Yankah has previously served as a member of the Black Stars management committee and held various positions within the GFA during Kwesi Nyantakyi's presidency.
With a notable background in the sport, he is a well-known figure in football administration.
During his eight-year tenure as the chairman of the Western Region Football Association, succeeding the late Lee Yankey, Yankah showcased his leadership skills. He also held a position as an Executive Committee member of the GFA.
Having declared his intentions, he is expected to challenge the incumbent Kurt Okraku, who is seeking re-election.
