Leicester City confirms departure of Ghana defender Daniel Amartey

Former English Premier League champions, Leicester City have announced that Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is leaving the club at the end of June when his contract expires.

The Black Stars centre-back is one of seven senior team players who are partying ways with the Foxes.

“Seven senior professionals are among those confirmed to leave Leicester City upon the expiration of their respective contracts this June.

“Leicester City confirms the departure of seven senior professionals upon the expiration of their contracts in June.

“Youri Tielemans and Çağlar Söyüncü among the players to leave King Power Stadium.

Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Pérez, and Tetê will also leave the Football Club,” parts of a club statement from Leicester City on Monday, June 5, said.

Daniel Amartey, 28, joined Leicester City in the summer transfer window of 2016 from Danish Superliga outfit Copenhagen.

Reports suggest that the Black Stars defender is a transfer target of AC Milan and Besiktas.

He is for now focused on helping Ghana to beat Madagascar in the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

That game is scheduled to be played on Sunday, June 18.
