Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla have been crowned Champions of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League.

The team locked horns with Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma in the finals on Wednesday night.

In a contest staged at Puskas Arena in Budapest, there was no winner at the end of 90 minutes.

A first-half strike from Paulo Dybala was cancelled by an own goal from Gianluca Mancini in the second half to send the game into extra time.

Although both teams will create some chances in the extra time, neither side could equalise.

In the nervy shootout, Sevilla proved to be the side with nerves of steel as the La Liga outfit beat AS Roma 4-1.

Although AS Roma did enough in the game, the Champions are deserved winners of this season’s UEFA Europa League.

Sevilla dominated in all areas of the game throughout the contest as the side fought for the honours.

Having lifted the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night, Sevilla have become record champions of the competition for the seventh time.

No side in the history of the competition has lifted the trophy more than three times.

Sevilla rightly are now called ‘owners’ of the UEFA Europa League as many refer to the side.
