Xavi Hernandez, the former Barcelona player, is set to extend his contract with the club as their head coach.

According to reports, the club has already prepared a proposal, and it is only a matter of time before Xavi signs the new deal.

The news was first reported by Sports Journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Xavi wants to focus solely on the pitch for now. It is understood that Xavi is actively working with the board on future plans for the club and is determined to bring the first Liga title as coach.

Xavi returned to the Camp Nou as the head coach of Barcelona in November 2021 after replacing Ronald Koeman, on a contract until June 2024.

Since taking charge, Xavi has been credited with introducing a new playing style, which is heavily focused on possession and attacking football. The team has been performing well under his leadership, and Xavi is seen as the man who can take Barcelona back to their glory days.

Barcelona is currently first on the La Liga table, twelve points ahead of rivals, Real Madrid who sit second on the table, with twelve games remaining in the season. Xavi will be hoping to guide the team to their first Liga title in five years.
