Match Report: Hearts of Oak back in the race for Ghana Premier League title after beating Accra Lions

Hearts of Oak are now just three points away from going top of the Ghana Premier League table after posting a narrow 1-0 win over Accra Lions on Wednesday night.

The Phobians did not start the 2022/23 Ghanaian top-flight league on a good note and had to change managers early in the campaign.

Early this month, the team’s head coach Slavko Matic also left the role after some fans stormed the training grounds of the team one morning to stop him from training his squad.

Now being handled by assistant coach David Ocloo, Hearts of Oak still have the ambition to win the Ghana Premier League at the end of the season.

Today, the Phobians hosted capital rivals Accra Lions in a Week 24 encounter of the league season.

Thanks to a solitary strike from midfielder Linda Mtange, Hearts of Oak have secured an important victory to stay in the race for the league title.
