AC Milan is on the verge of securing the services of French striker Olivier Giroud for another season.

According to a tweet by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Giroud's agents were in Milan on Monday to meet with AC Milan board members to finalize the deal.

Giroud's current contract with AC Milan is set to expire in June, but both the player and the club are eager to continue their partnership. The 36-year-old forward has been a crucial player for the Italian giants this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions so far.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal striker joined AC Milan in the summer of 2021, and has made a significant impact so far with the club. He has been a regular starter under manager Stefano Pioli and has formed a lethal partnership with fellow striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The new contract is expected to be for another year, and would see Giroud remain with AC Milan until the summer of 2023.

The Frenchman's experience and goal scoring prowess would be invaluable for the Rossoneri as they look to compete for major honors both domestically and in Europe.

AC Milan are currently fourth in the Serie A table, two points behind Lazio. Inter Milan will be hoping that Giroud can continue to deliver the goods for them as they aim to win their first league title since 2011.
