Bayern Munich Football Club has announced the sacking of their head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
The club's director, Hasan Salihamidzić, explained the reasons for Nagelsmann's departure in a statement, saying, "After thorough analysis of the sporting development of our team, especially since January and with the experience of the second half of the previous season, we have now decided together to release Julian."
The decision came as a surprise to many, as Nagelsmann had only been in charge of the team for one season.
The German football club currently sits second in the Bundesliga table, one point behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund and are in the quarter-final stage of the Uefa Champions League.
The 33-year-old Nagelsmann, who was appointed just last year, had a contract until 2026.
