Volleyball Teams Prepare For Zone III Elimination

Forty players of the national men and women's volleyball teams have begun non-residential training at the Prisons Complex Courts ahead of the Africa Volleyball Zone III elimination scheduled for the end of March in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic yesterday, the Secretary General of the Ghana Volleyball Association and national volleyball Coach, Erasmus Adorkor, said the two teams would later move to the C.K. Gyamfi Sports College in Winneba for a month's intensive residential training schedule.

“We want to make a meaningful impact on the international level this year so we are working towards it,” Coach Adorkor said.

He commended the acting GVA Chairman, Mr Kwame Manu-Debrah, for his immense support which has ensured the running of the training schedule..

The players for the men's team are Wise Adzokpa, William Akakpo, Seidu Baba and Kenneth Baka of Police Service, Abass Ayamga, Alhassan Issah, Ahmed Issah ( Prisons Service), Francis Amenukevu, Andy Swaniker, Emmanuel Quainoo (Immigration Service), Evans Lomotey-Tagoe, Sylvester Seshie, Abdallah Osman, Amos Bediako and Jordan Agbevanu of the Armed Forces.

The rest are Alfred Ofei Awuku Akuffo, Iddrissu Banisou ( Fire Service), William Klu of the University of Cape Coast, Callistus Sullo of University of Education, Winneba and Delali Ziorklui of Prisons Service.
Of the 20 players invited for the national women's team, eight are from the Prisons Service. They are Emelia Addo, Susana Allam, Zenabu Maami Issah, Hellen Abakisi, Asana Ayinga, Ivy Akortse, Rosina Nayembil and Dorothy Boakye.
The rest are Mary Addae, Vida Ocran, Ajara Mohammed, Brigette Saamah and Josephine Andoh (Police Service), Paulina Gwalase, Charlene Adjei (Ghana Immigration Service), Joana Atuah, Rafia Mohammed (Armed Forces), Juliana Sackey (Prison Service) and Ruth Budu and Belinda Lartey of the University of Ghana.
