Boxing Isaac Dogboe intensifies training for Ramirez showdown
MAR 10, 2023 LISTEN

Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe has intensified training ahead of his World Boxing Organisation’s (WBO) featherweight championship against Robeisy Ramirez in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 1.

The former WBO super bantamweight champion is closing in on his training camp at the Headbangers Boxing Gym in Washington, D.C. as he prepares to become a two-time world champion.

Dogboe (24-2, 15 KOs) is being trained by renowned trainers --- Barry Hunter and Patrice Harris – who have ensured his resurgence from two consecutive defeats to Emanuel Navarrete in 2018 and 2019.

The hard-hitting Ghanaian fighter is expected to face a stiff opposition in Ramirez (11-1, 7 KOs) who is making his world championship debut.

Dogboe could use his 2018 victory over Jessie Magdaleno as a motivation to earn Ghana another world title by defying all odds to dethrone the Cuban boxer.

His impressive run of four consecutive victories since losing his WBO super bantamweight title has restored Dogboe’s confidence ahead of the showdown with the dangerous Ramirez and is confident of winning.

“This is the opportunity for me to take and I won’t make it go waste,” Dogboe told the Graphic Sports.

“I have fought my way back to the top since that setback in 2019 which saw me lost my title but I have a responsibility to make history again and I am certain about that.”

Meanwhile, Ramirez is hoping to win his maiden world championship bout by beating his Ghanaian opponent when they slug it out on April 1 in Oklahoma.

The Cuban has won all fights since losing his debut pro bout to Adan Gonzales and getting his much needed revenge against Gonzales in the process.
