Hearts of Oak recovered from recent poor performances to defeat rivals Asante Kotoko 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Courtesy of the narrow victory, the Phobians have been crowned champions of the 2023 President’s Cup.

Today’s contest was also the Week 20 encounter between the two most successful clubs in the onoing Ghana Premier League.

In a game played at the Accra Sports Stadium, the President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was present to watch the game.

At the end of a very exciting contest, Hearts of Oak secured a delightful victory thanks to a solitary strike from Konadu Yiadom in the 57th minute.

Although Asante Kotoko had a few chances to score after going behind, the team just could not find the back of the net.

In the end, the Porcupine Warriors are returning to Kumasi without the President’s Cup, and no point as well.

Meanwhile, the win has propelled Hearts of Oak to 4th on the Ghana Premier League table.

The team is five points behind Aduana Stars, the team on top of the league standings.
