PONKOH MAD AT KOTOKO DEFEAT

The 3-1 defeat inflicted on Kumasi Asante Kotoko by archrivals, Accra Hearts of Oak at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium last Sunday continue to draw castigations from various quarters officially or unofficially related to the team.

The latest to chastise the management of the team is Yamoah Ponkoh, who is mad at the manner Kotoko lost, especially in a matter of two weeks.

Ponkoh's madness at the defeat is directed more at the doorstep of Operations Director of the club, Jerry Asare, whom he accused of doing too much talk, backed by little action.

Explaining the premise for his displeasure at last Sunday's result, Ponkoh argued that while in office Kotoko engaged Hearts of Oak in four matches, two of which they won, drawing the other two.

What excites Ponkoh about their record while in office is that in one of those wins they notched at the expense of Hearts of Oak, they beat the Phobians by 3-1, the same as the result of last Sunday's game.

According to him, they made a glorious record against Hearts of Oak, but which record has now been smudged by back-to-back defeats Kotoko suffered at the hands of Hearts of Oak.

“I simply can't understand this. The back-to-back defeats suffered by Kotoko should be placed at the doorstep of Jerry Asare. He's doing too much talk, but no action”, he fumed.

“The success of every team depends on the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations department. In the same way, failures and disappointing results should be blamed on that department when they are recorded”, he stressed.

But not notwithstanding the swipe Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has taken of his office, Kotoko Operations Director, Jerry Asare has chortled at Ponkoh's comments saying, “I don't want to respond to the effusions of a man who doesn't know what to do with his time”.
