Vice President of Hatayspor, Mustapha Ozat has confirmed that they are yet to establish contact with Christian Atsu following an earthquake.

The Ghanaian winger went missing in the early hours of Monday, February 6, 2023, together with Hatayaspor’s director, Taner Savut, after the earthquake.

Several of his team members reportedly needed to be saved by experts when the earthquake hit.

But he, however, assured that efforts are still underway to find the duo and others trapped under the rubble.

"We know our sports director, Taner Savut is under the rubble. We have not been able to reach him.

"We were unable to contact Christian Atsu. His building is completely destroyed. Let us see what happens next," he added.

Atsu joined Hatayspor last summer and scored his maiden goal for the team over the weekend in a 1-0 win against Kasimpasa.

The Black Stars winger is one of many people trapped under buildings that collapsed after a massive earthquake in Turkey at a magnitude of 7.8 on Monday.

Reports show that over 2000 people died while hundreds are wounded following the earthquake.

Meanwhile, reports suggest all other members of the Super League side, Hatayspor, have been found.
