The Anyinase-based club today welcomed the Porcupine Warriors to the CAM Park for the Week 15 fixture of the 2022/23 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.
In a closely contested affair, the first half of the game ended in a goalless stalemate after both teams failed to take advantage of the chances that came their way.
After recess, Karela United played better and frustrated the defending Ghana Premier League champions.
At the hour mark, the home team had the chance to take the lead when the team was awarded a penalty kick.
Attacker Samuel Atta Kumi accepted the challenge from 12 yards and made no mistake. He scored with a powerful drive to give Karela United the lead.
Despite putting up a strong fight after conceding, Asante Kotoko could not find the back of the net at the end of the 90 minutes and lost by a goal to nil.
The win has propelled Karela United to 13th on the league table while Asante Kotoko drop to 15th.
