Belgium-based attacker, Francis Amuzu has completed his nationality switch to become eligible to play for the Black Stars.

Despite being born in Ghana, the 23-year-old grew up in Belgium where he joined the RSC Anderlecht academy.

While going through the ranks, Francis Amuzu was drafted by the Belgium youth national team and represented the country at the U19 and U21 sides.

Although he was expected to eventually progress to the Belgium national team, it has not happened for him.

Following successful talks with the Ghana FA, Francis Amuzu has now completed a switch from Belgium to now be eligible to play for the Black Stars.

“The motivation behind this decision is that I deem it an obligation to play for my mother country since my parents are Ghanaian,” Francis Amuzu is reported to have said in a letter to FIFA as quoted by 3Sports.

The youngster in the past two seasons has cemented his place in the first team of RSC Anderlecht as a key player.

With the switch made, Francis Amuzu must now work hard to hit top form to merit a call-up to the Ghana national team for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers coming up in March.
