IT’S JUDGMENT DAY FOR HEARTS!

udgment is expected to be issued later today by the Appeals Committee in the case in which Accra Hearts of Oak were declared losers in their boycotted 7th week match against Tema Youth by the Disciplinary Committee.

Hearts of Oak have found the disciplinary committee's decision to declare them losers of the game that never was, too difficult to stomach, compelling them to file an appeal, which the committee concerned, will this afternoon hear and issue judgment. Hearts of Oak failed to turn up for their 7th week premier league game against Tema Youth, claiming out of the 16 clubs participating in the league, they were the only team in receipt of a court injunction on the league.

According to Hearts officials, a decision by a court of competent jurisdiction preponderates over any decision or directive by any other body, adding for fear of being cited for contempt, they decided to opt out of their 7th week match against the Tema team, and were later declared losers by the Disciplinary Committee.

The decision by the committee to declare Hearts of Oak losers has not gone down well with team officials, who without any stuttering filed an appeal, which should have been held earlier in the week, but for the request put in by Tema Youth to be given ample time to study the disciplinary committee's ruling and be in a position to present cogent argument when they appear before the appeals committee.

In view of the hearing and issuance of a verdict on the issue, Hearts of Oak earlier cautioned the FA/PLB not to officially name Ghana's representatives for next year's CAF/MTN Champions League, as they believe they are stand a good chance to have the appeals committee overturn the decision by the disciplinary committee, which will stand them in good stead for a ticket to compete in Africa next year although they claim they are not so keen on participating in Africa next year.

Albert Commey, the club's Deputy PRO says, “they are fighting for a principle they strongly stand for”.
