Ghana head coach, Otto Addo has praised goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi for his outstanding performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The FC St. Gallen shot-stopper has been in post for the two Group H matches against Portugal and South Korea.

Although he has conceded five goals, he has made some fantastic stops that particularly helped Ghana to beat South Korea 3-2.

Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of Ghana’s clash against Uruguay, Ghana coach Otto Addo says he has no doubt Lawrence Ati-Zigi is having a great tournament in Qatar.

‘’I think it’s been a great tournament up to this point for him, he really did well especially in the last game, he had some great saves,” the Black Stars coach said as quoted on the GFA website.

Coach Otto Addo added, ‘’We knew before that the goalkeepers we have are almost all on the same level so it was very, very sad when we got the news that Joseph Wollacott and Richard Ofori were not able to come due to injuries’’.

‘’But on the other hand, we were surely confident that we have other goalkeepers like Ati Zigi, Manaf Nurudeen and also Danlad Ibrahim who are really doing well in training and Zigi obviously playing very, very, good.”

With no injury concern, Lawrence Ati-Zigi is expected to be in post on Friday when Ghana takes on Uruguay in the final Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
