The captain of the Ghana national team, Andre Ayew is upbeat ahead of the opening Group H encounter against Portugal on Thursday, November 24.

The Black Stars are 24 hours away from getting involved in the action at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time since the tournament commenced in Qatar on Sunday.

Ahead of what will be a tough game against Portugal, Andre Ayew has addressed the media at a pre-match press conference.

At the presser, the experienced attacker stressed that it is not a big deal that not many players in the current Black Stars squad have world cup experience.

According to him, the current national team squad is full of quality and they can do something great for the country at the tournament.

“It’s true my brother and I are the only ones in the current Ghana squad to play in the World Cup but it doesn’t mean anything. Cause we also came to play and it was a first at some point and we went able to do good things on the field.

“For me, I believe that the squad we have the quality to really impress and show the world what we are capable of,” Andre Ayew told the press.

The Group H encounter between Ghana and Portugal is scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT on Thursday.

Subsequently, Ghana will face off with South Korea and Uruguay to end the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
