The much talked about defeat of Real Tamale United (RTU) by many football analysts in the Tamale Metropolis by Liberty Professionals were put to shame when the home team ensured that maintained their unbeaten home record when they chalked a 2-0 win to add Liberty to the list of teams that had fallen flat at Kaladan Park.

The two goals scored in the 34th and 87th minutes by centre forward Alhassan Weah were enough to win the three maximum points for the 'Pride of the North to maintain their unbeaten home record.

The game started on a fast note with both teams trying to outdo each other but it was not until the 34th minute that a free kick floated from the left flank met Weah who was sand-witched by the Liberty defenders managed to out jump them to head the ball into the net to register the first goal of the game.

The goal gingered the RTU lads into action but erratic shooting at goal coupled with good goalkeeping by Patrick Antwi of Liberty Professionals denied them of any more goals.

RTU continued to probed for more goals and ended entertaining the partisan spectators with delightful and skilful display of good football and brought pressure to bear on the visitors but their acts failed to yield further dividends in the first half.

The second half saw both coaches making some substitutions in an effort to strengthen their attack but it was RTU who benefited from the changes and continued to dominate the game.

It therefore came as no surprise when Tofig Alolo, RTU's right-winger delivered a terrific shot at goal, which Keeper Antwi palmed to the left flank to meet an RTU attacker who raced to connect the ball but the keeper fouled him in the penalty box.

Referee Yaw Ametipe from Sunyani whistled against the keeper for a spot kick and this infuriated the keeper who rushed to challenge the Referee's decision and was quickly shown the red card. Weah who elected himself for the kick expertly converted the penalty into the net for the second goal for RTU.

RTU tried to increase the tally in the dying moments of the game but the Dansoman lads stood firm and warded off the chances that came the way of RTU till the referee brought proceedings to an end.

Some of the fans whom the GNA Sports spoke to described the performance of Liberty Professionals as "below standards" and that RTU could have scored more goals if they had utilized all their chances. Coach Cecil Jones Attuqufio of Liberty Professionals admitted that his boys played below expectations but was quick to say that RTU deserved to win because they played very well in all departments of the game.

He said it is his aim to ensure that his side are among the top four teams and that it was not yet over until it was all over.
