League leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, beat Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord 1-0 in their match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Douglas Nkrumah scored the only goal in the 14th-minute through a powerful header, which beat goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy in a goalmouth melee.

Referee W.L. Quaye of Accra, whistled the two teams into action after five minutes of downpour and in the fifth minute of the game, Nasiru Ghani of Kotoko was injured and was replaced by Ali Ouedrago. Kotoko, determined to carry the day, nearly took the lead in the 12th minute but Kobina Dodzie's shot was parried to corner and the resultant kick wasted.

The Porcupine Warriors, however, continued to pile on pressure and this paid off when Nkrumah headed home the match winner. Feyenoord accepted the challenge and moved into Kotoko's vital area and had a free kick just outside the "box" in the 20th minute but the kick by Abubakar Mahadi hit the belly of Dodzie who was stretchered off for treatment.

The Gomoa boys continued to dominate the game with accurate passes and speed but were unfortunate to have found the net. Having seized the midfield and the attack, Feyenoord nearly came to level terms but a shot from Yekini sailed over the bar in the 36th minute.

The second half started with another downpour but it did not affect the trend of play as Feyenoord still dominated play. Kotoko brought on Yusif Chibsah for Nkrumah in 65th minute and announced his presence with a shot, which should have been the second goal, but goalkeeper McCarthy saved the situation.
